Scrapbook Generation Blog Hop

Welcome to the SG Blog Hop for December, if this is your first stop, you might like to start at the Scrapbook Generation blog and then hop through each link.

For my layout I used the Scrapbook Generation's Sketch Fusion with Simple Stories book to create my layout. Two of my favourite things are the Simple Stories line and Scrapbook Generations sketches so I use this sketch book all the time. I used the Simple Stories December Documented collection for this layout. I cut the title from a digital download from Miss Kate's Cuttables and cut on my Silhouette.

You can find the SG sketches in their books and as downloads in the SG store, and there is a free one every month in case you wanted to try it out.

Next on the hop is Lindsey - http://www.scrapping-by-the-sea.com. Leave a comment on each blog and one lucky commenter will receive a free sketch bundle of their choice from the store. The winner will be draw on December 9th, so you have one week to leave a comment.

Sketch challenge at Two Scrapbook Friends

I haven't blogged in so long! I was able to get some scrapping done this weekend and one of the things on my list of to do's was the November challenge over at Two Scrapbook Friends. The challenge by Shelby was a sketch so I was up for it because I love sketches.

Here is my take on the sketch. Thanks for the inspiration Shelby!

The Park West Bag - Pattern Review for Sew Sweetness

I was able to complete a pattern review for Sara over at Sew Sweetness.

The pattern is called The Park West Bag. I love how it came together! Sara's directions are always easy to follow. I would say this is a bag for an experienced beginner or intermediate sewer.

I used Calypso Swing fabric from Free Spirit for this bag.

Go and check it out!

Purse Palooza 2013 - Amy Butler Beautiful Bella

Announcing Purse Palooza 2013!!

I am happy to be participating in Purse Palooza this year with a special purse sewing pattern review! Here's how the event works:

1. Every weekday from September 30th - October 25th, there are 2 amazing guest bloggers scheduled to share with you a purse sewing pattern review. None of the purses reviewed from the event last year are being reviewed again, so these will be fresh sewing pattern reviews! The review will contain detailed information about what I thought about the sewing pattern, modifications I made, what kind of interfacing I used, and more! Get inspired!

2. Even more exciting...THERE WILL BE A GIVEAWAY EVERY WEEKDAY DURING THE EVENT! That's right, 20 GIVEAWAYS!

3. At the end of the event, you will get a chance to show me your purse in order to win some amazing prizes! Of course, international entries are welcome too!

 Go check it out!!

So here is my pattern review for Purse Palooza.

I selected Amy Butler's Beautiful Bella bag. I love Amy Butler. I think it is because the very first bag I made was an Amy Butler pattern. I have made several other Amy bags since. I have to say not all of them were easy! The Weekender is actually on my list of bags to do this year but that was going to be way too big of a project for this! The good news is the Beautiful Bella bag was an easy one!! The instructions were easy to follow and made sense because there are pictures to go along with them ( I am a visual person so pictures are so helpful!).

I used the Poetica line from Art Gallery for my fabric.

The only alteration I made to the pattern was to make the handles longer. I did this by just laying down pattern piece down farther on fabric and extending lines to top to make  the extension.

I love the hidden cell phone pocket that Amy includes in a lot of her patterns! So cool!

I would recommend this bag for anyone who loves to sew bags. It was easy, came together quickly and will hold a ton of stuff!

Thanks for stopping by!

Scrapbook Steals Mid Week Mojo

I was able to get a layout done for this weeks Mid Week Mojo at Scrapbook Steals.

This was the first day of Grade 5. Where does the time go??

May Scrappy Friends Sketch Challenge

I love scrapbook layout challenges. The keep me working through my stash.

So, I came across a challenge at GrandDiva's Creative Corner that was very cool!

There were multiple elements to the challenge.

The first part was to use the sketch provided at the GrandDiva's Creative Corner.

The other parts of the Scrappy Friends Challenge were this:
Rochelle Spears:  Used (3) of the Playroom Rules in my journaling- For my layout I used the word that was my title - Have Fun

Scrappin' Happy:  Star, Layering, Stamp- I used Stars, layering and the stamp was Loving Nature

Kristi B ~ Logo from product packaging (Lego) - I used the packaging from the gems of the My Mind's Eye Kraft Funday. It is the yellow lined paper on the right side of the layout just under the title.

This was such a fun challenge because there were lots of things to incorporate. Can't wait to play again!
