I saw a project on someones blog that I definitely wanted to try. It was putting words onto wood. I am all about testing things out before doing the "real" thing so I went to Michael's and bought a bunch of wood plaques for a dollar to see if this would work. I was happy with the final results.
So, you just paint the wood with the background colour (cream in this case), then apply the word in stickers, put a coat of Mod Podge over this and then the final coat of paint (teal for mine). Once this is dry you peel away the stickers. The Mod Podge works great in that when you peel the stickers the other paint around it doesn't lift as well so it is really clean. I threw on a few jewels and done!! I love when you try something and it works! I will definitely be making more of these!

Silhouette Cameo
Last week I received my new Silhouette Cameo and was able to play with it for a bit this morning. I love all the different things it will be able to do! I saw a box on someones blog that I wanted to give a try so I went to the Silhouette store and downloaded it and this became my first project!!
My first cut!
It turns out my first two cuts never worked!! You see I never had the blade in far enough! I was almost in tears!! But figured out what the problem was and was able to get it done!!
I am hosting Easter this year so these will be nice little treats to sit at every ones seat!! How cute are these!!
The next thing I love about the Silhouette is that it cuts vinyl. I love vinyl sayings! So, next project was to cut some vinyl. I had purchased the Vinyl starter kit so it was perfect because it had everything in it. There was a free expression that was perfect for my scrapping/sewing room - Believe in yourself.
It is now on the wall directly in front of where I create!! I love the font!!

Tova top
I have wanted to make the Tova top for a while. I just found out that you can now download the pattern. That made it so much easier to get it so I was in! The pattern was downloaded from Wiksten. I also got the tank top pattern which I will now have to make soon. I used the Art Gallery Bazaar Style collection for material.

Fruit pizza
Last night my daughter had two girlfriends over for a sleep over. Pizza was on the menu for dinner but decided I wanted something yummy for dessert. I made them Fruit pizza. I hadn't made it for a few years and don't know why because it is super easy and so delicious!
All I use is a package of sugar cookie mix. Mix it according to the instructions but when it comes time to bake it roll it out onto a pizza pan. Bake and let cool.
Then mix together:
An 8 oz tub of cream cheese
1/2 cup of sugar
2 teaspoons of vanilla
Mix together and spread over cooked sugar cookie
Then add whatever fruit you like to the top.
Super easy and looks so nice!

Cutting Cafe birthday card
I found this new site thanks to my Friend - Cutting Cafe. The send you down loadable prints which are very inexpensive and quite addictive!!
They had one for a 10th birthday card so I bought it as I have a few birthdays coming up where the kiddies are turning 10 years old.
I was pretty happy with the results of my first attempt with these.
Can't wait to make a few more of these!

Pound Cake recipe
Today I made two pound cakes from a tried and true Betty Crocker recipe that I have made many times because it is the best!
Ingredients
2.5 cups of sugar
1 cup of butter softened
1 teaspoon vanilla
5 large eggs
3 cups flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 cup mil or evaporated milk (I use evaporated)
Heat oven to 350 degree
Grease and flour angel food pan (tube pan) or two loaf pans (that's what I use)
Beat sugar, butter, vanilla and eggs in bowl with electric mixer on low for 30 seconds. Beat on high speed for five minutes scraping bowl occasionally. Mix flour, baking powder and salt. Beat flour mixture into sugar mixture alternately with milk on low speed. Spread in pans.
Bake tube pan for 1 hour and 10 minutes to 1 hour and 20 minutes. Loaf pans bake 55 to 60 minutes or until tooth pick inserted into middle comes out clean. Cool 20 minutes and remove from pan.
Enjoy!

February Summary
When I tallied up what was accomplished in February it was a lot! Especially considering it was a short month! The hardest part to ensure was completed for the month was working out the 12 days (done!) and only spending on non essentials for 12 days (done!). So here is the run down:
Scrapbooking:
- completed 3 challenges
- completed 8 layouts from sketches
Sewing
- a tank top completed
-a tunic completed
-worked on two quilts
Working out
- worked out 12 days in the month
Spending
- spent on non essentials for only 12 days (It was close!!)
Recipes
-made one new recipe
Books
-finished The Pact
It looks like I need to start working on some House Mouse cards! Haven't touched that goal yet?
Thank goodness there are 31 days in March. More days to spend money!
